We are hesitant to use the word NeoLab.
Like many other NeoLabs, we believe in our training paradigm and unique model architecture.
Like many other NeoLabs, we are a small team of truly world class researchers.
But being a NeoLab usually implies a belief that the Big 3 are not adequate. That they've somehow missed something. That a new architectural breakthrough, training paradigm, or talent structure will yield something substantial enough to eat away at those trillions of dollars.
Being a NeoLab implies, for ethical, technical, or for other reasons, serving as a foil to Anthropic.
Who served as a foil to OpenAI.
Who served as a foil to Google DeepMind.
There is no shame in being a NeoLab. We are not stating that NeoLabs will not be successful. It is abundantly clear that Transformers will not be the final model architecture. We are simply making a clear distinction between NeoLabs and Gray Box Labs.
Gray Box Labs is not interested in winning in the NeoLab space. We are interested in creating our own space.
One that solves problems that actually matter.
Emphasis on the actually matter.
